Dr. Deborah Douglas is the Vice President of Operations, Manufacturing for Medicure Inc and directs, manages and coordinates the activities associated with product manufacturing as well as new product development. Before joining Medicure Inc. Dr. Douglas worked at the International Centre for Infectious Diseases (ICID) where she managed the Canadian HIV Vaccine Initiative Alliance Coordinating Office (ACO). As leader of the ACO Dr. Douglas was involved with several international partnerships involving the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Aids Vaccine Initiative (IAVI). In her role at the ACO, Dr Douglas also work with Canadian biotech companies, HIV researchers and various Departments within the Government of Canada to help coordinate Canada's HIV vaccine research efforts. Previous to her tenure at ICID, Dr. Douglas was the Director of Pharmacology at CanAm Bioresearch and worked on developing novel compounds to protect against cardiac ischemia-reperfusion injury. She was also Manager of Clinical Sciences at Cangene Corporation where she was involved in the development and licensure of several medical counter measures. Dr. Douglas has a PhD from McGill University in the area of Reproductive Physiology and has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 20 years.
